Whilst there was always some trouble in the 3 years I spent there, there was never the degree of personal danger expressed in this article.<br /><br />Visiting journalists and others often gave upbeat accounts of the conditions in PNG and this was in the early eighties. Have things degenerated so much since in real terms?<br /><br />PNG is a beautiful country with magnificent people.
