Prime Minister jets into Kerema with K28 million

PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill, currently on national tour, yesterday received another warm welcome in Kerema, the Gulf provincial capital, The National reports.
 He was in the province to deliver the landowner grants as part of his decision to deliver these grants at the project site.
It was his first official visit to the province in a charter­ed aircraft.
About 3,000 people, in­cluding school children, traditional dancers, landowners, public servants and the public, welcomed him and his entourage.
O’Neill was accompanied by Kairuku-Hiri MP Paru Aihi and Fisheries Minister Job Pomat while Gulf Governor Havila Kavo and Kerema MP Pitom Bombom were there on the ground to welcome them.
O’Neill delivered two cheques to the provincial administrator Orisuru Avai.
The first cheque for K16 million was paid to the Gulf landowners while K10 million was paid to the province for the Kerema town road upgrading and sealing and K2 million for Kerema High School.
Landowner spokesman and chairman of Kikori gas pipeline landowners association Seko Hauke gave two live
pigs saying they were pleased the prime minister had visited to deliver the long awaited infrastructure development grants.
O’Neill told the people that during his short period as a prime minister, he had visited many places, including isolated rural districts, because he wanted to see how people lived and what they were missing out on.
